Our world is a digital world. From learning a language to food shopping, booking a doctor’s appointment to connecting with friends, finding a job to solving the climate crisis. But across society, there is a digital divide.

There are teachers who lack training and resources, girls who are excluded from digital learning, and young learners who lack the skills and access they need to realise their potential.

In this ever-changing world, we want to help ensure no one gets left behind.

At Vodafone Foundation, we believe in the power of digital skills to open doors, promote social inclusion and break down inequalities, giving young people the confidence to explore their curiosity and inspire them to dream big, whatever their background, gender or where they call home.

Together, we’re making sure everyone has the skills and access they need to belong in a digital world.

How it works:

Part of Vodafone Foundation’s work in Europe, Skills Upload Jr is a programme that provides digital skills, access, training and support for school student and teachers.

Through our Skills Upload Jr programme, we:

  • Give students of all ages the confidence, digital tools, materials and opportunities, to explore their curiosity, whatever their background, gender or where they call home.
  • Support teachers to use digital tools across the entire curriculum with learning materials for tools from smart devices to artificial intelligence, robotics to augmented reality.
  • Help young people feel secure and empowered in all aspects of their lives when using digital tools in our hubs and at school, through collaborative projects that inspire creative and critical thinking.
  • Work with schools, governments, NGOs, parents and families to make our education systems more equitable, innovative and resilient, enable everyone to have access to digital education and help digital learning benefit whole communities.
  • Highlight the benefits of digital skills for future jobs by bringing students together with role models and learning about their experiences, ultimately being able to give back to their communities.

Our Purpose

Transform Primary and Secondary education by making education systems more resilient, equitable and innovative, working alongside key public and private partners to create a sustainable impact across Europe.

Our mission

Equip teachers and students with digital competences through training, empowering them to apply these skills to change the teaching and learning process. We also seek to improve the digital and 21st Century skills of generations of young creators, empowering them to build an inclusive, green, and digital Europe.

Education

Education is the driving force behind the development of our societies; therefore, it must be seen as an investment in the future of our youth and the planet. We want to ensure quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, in line with SDG 4.

Incorporating a culture of learning from the earliest stages of life is an innovation, as learning by doing, experimenting, creating, inspiring, guiding and generating opportunities for the future. Building on this foundation, we must make education our priority. We must join forces to build inclusive, equitable and quality education systems.

Let us teach young people how to change the world.

Digital Technology

We find ourselves in an era where digital technology has exponentially transformed people's well-being, revolutionising and transforming every process of our lives. However, in the midst of this digital revolution, there is a divide between those who have access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and those who do not.

Our commitment

We are invested in preparing students for this new world, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in this digital age. Most importantly, digital technology should be an ally for them to enhance their education, empower their voices and shape a better future.

Technology as a driver of inclusion and opportunity.

Inclusion

In our journey towards digitalisation and technology, we are driven by a clear and defined objective that includes prioritising inclusion. We firmly believe that inclusion is the foundation for every student to feel valued and have access to equal opportunities.

Every student is as important as any other. This is the reason why we go hand in hand with SDGs 5 and 10, to achieve gender equality and reduce inequality within and between countries.

Inclusion in education is not just a goal, it is a path to a fairer and more equitable future.

Where we work
